Rupert Bear was originally a cartoon character created by Mary Tourtel who first appeared in the Daily Express on November 8 1920. He originally started out with brown fur which was changed to white to reduce the print costs. Rupert lives in the town of Nutwood with several friends: Bill Badger, Algy Pug and Edward Trunk.

Royal Doulton have taken the famous annuals and created these wonderful ceramic figurines from the illustrations, brining them into a three dimensional perspective.
