Miles Mason founded Masons Ironstone in 1796 and with his three sons became famous for their oriental based pottery designs which were both durable and beautiful. The original patented Masons Ironstone was so strong that it was used to make fireplaces, garden seats and four poster beds.

The company designs are hand painted using rich cobalt blue, deep green and iron red enamel paints, with 22 carat gold before glazing – a process that is still used to this day.
