Heredities bronze figurines and sculptures are cold cast bronze figures.

Bronze has been a favourite material for sculptors for over 2,000 years. The sculpting process evolved from the use of hot cast bronze, melted and poured into a mould made from the original sculpture or figurine. The work was then allowed to cool and was 'finished' to a high standard by skilled and highly trained craftsmen. The hot-cast process is expensive and slow, requiring a great degree of skill and is therefore normally limited to short runs and very expensive pieces.

The process of 'cold casting' resulted from research and development work carried out in the US space programme. The cold cast process became the preferred method for the production of many moulded items (including bronze sculptures) as it produces a superior finish at a lower cost.
